Course Description:


Motor vehicle crashes remain the number one cause of death among youth ages 15 to 20. For that reason, safe and responsible driving remains the goal of Alabama’s driver and traffic safety education program. This course emphasizes the development and improvement of driving skills enabling drivers to become more capable of handling situations that arise in today’s complex driving environment.  The Driver and Traffic Safety Education course helps students develop the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for survival in the highway transportation system.


Course Requirements:


  1. First Semester - must have learner’s permit or driver’s license by August 25, 2017                                                                             Second Semester – must have learner’s permit or driver’s license by January 26, 2018
  2. Course fee of $35.00
  3. Class notebook for classroom notes and handouts

  1. Boating Basics
  2. Textbook: Responsible Driving
  3. Alabama Driver Manual

Classroom Procedures:

  1. Students will be expected to be in their desks with materials ready for class when the bell rings. No phones out during classroom instruction or in the Driver Ed. car
  2. The Student Code of Conduct will be enforced in the classroom and in the driver education car.
  3. Students will be sent to other classes (to aide) during the driving phase if it is not their day to drive. Students are responsible for finding a teacher to aide with.
