First Senior Reminder

FIRST SENIOR REMINDER:  2018

 

Your senior year is important, fun, and demanding.  We want you to know what is in store for you this year so that there will be no misunderstandings and so that you will not miss out on all the good things that your senior year has to offer!!  PLEASE CHECK YOUR REPORT CARD EVERY NINE WEEKS FOR SENIOR CLASS NEWS/UPDATES.  Check often with a senior sponsor to be sure that you are getting all information related to seniors.  If you ever need any help during your senior year, please see any sponsor or Mrs. Kelly.  We are here to help make your senior year your best year yet!  When filling out scholarship/college applications you will need your counselor’s contact information:

  1. The entire month of August is senior class T-Shirt design month.  You may submit to any sponsor a drawing for your senior class tee.  All designs are due by Thursday, August 31st.  You will vote on the design you like best.  Then, your sponsors will take orders, and you will soon have your shirts to wear throughout your senior year. 

 

  1. Alabama Power is holding their Resume Competition in September.  This is a $500 scholarship opportunity.  Resumes can be emailed to Tonya Holland (Holland.tonya@hcboe.us) no later than August 31st

 

  1. Thursday, August 24th @ 9:15am:  Letterman jacket meeting with Balfour.
  2. Tuesday, August 29th @11:10am:  Prom fundraiser sales kick-off.  This is your only fundraiser for prom and sales determine the members on the prom committee.  Sales will run from 8/28 – 9/8

 

  1. A College Day will be held at the Houston County Career Academy (HCCA) in September.  There will be a rotational schedule so that students and parents can attend and will also have rooms set up for FASFA completion, College application completion, and resume assistance.  Be listening for the announcement of dates and times.

 

  1. Friday, September 1st:  Last day to purchase a Senior ad for the yearbook.  Please send money, pictures, and message to Mrs. Lawrence.  If you have any questions email Mrs. Lawrence at lawrence.candy@hcboe.us.    Pricing:

Full Page       $300               includes up to 8 pictures and a message

½ Page          $180               includes up to 4 pictures and a message

¼ Page          $100               includes 1 picture and a message

1/8 Page        $85                 includes a message

 

  1. Tuesday, September 5th @ 9:30am:  Place Letterman jacket orders with Balfour.
  2. Friday, September 8th:  Last day to turn in prom fundraiser sales.  Must have a total sales amount of $315 to attend prom for free.  The top 10 sellers that sell over the $315 will be on the Prom Committee.

 

  1. Wednesday, September 27th @ 10:00 a.m.:  Balfour representative will show you graduation invitations, tassels, etc. for 2018.  You will receive prices, order information, etc. at this time.
  2. Wednesday, October 11th @ 10:00 a.m.:  Balfour representative will be here to get your graduation supply order and your deposit (approximately $125).  Balfour DOES NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS.  YOU MAY PAY CASH, CREDIT/DEBIT CARD OR WITH A CASHIERS’ CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.
  3.   Tuesday, October 31st:  Senior Portrait make-up pictures (Only drape/tux picture)
  4.   Thursday, December 7th @10:45am:  Balfour will deliver Letterman jackets
  5. Friday, December 8th:  ABSOLUTE LAST DAY TO PAY PROM BALANCE!!  If you do not pay by this date, you will NOT be able to attend prom.

 

  1. Wednesday, February 21st:  ACT WorkKeys Test

 

  1. Friday, March 23rd:  Senior Prom at the Cultural Arts Center.  Lead-out is at 8pm.  Pictures are by appointment from 4:00-7:00.

 

  1. Tuesday, May 1st:  Senior debts MUST be paid.  Participating in commencement exercises is a privilege that each senior earns by meeting deadlines and paying bills on time.

 

  1. Thursday, May 24th:  Graduation Practice @ the Dothan Civic Center.  If you do not attend practice or are late for practice, you will not participate in commencement exercises!

 

  1. Friday, May 25th:  Commencement Exercises @ the Dothan Civic Center.

 

***All class fees must be paid.  If you receive a poor grade because of unpaid fees and your average is incorrect at the time of honor court announcement because of your unpaid debt, then your class rank will NOT be changed if you pay after ranking has been done.

 

***Your diploma will be held and you will not be allowed to participate in our commencement exercises if you owe any money to Balfour.

 

***If you are in Alternative School at the time of prom or graduation practice, you will NOT be allowed to participate.  Remember your prom fees are NON-REFUNDABLE!!
